Bandung, 21 September 2024 – A tectonic earthquake measuring 5.0 SR struck Bandung District, Garut, and surrounding areas on Wednesday, 18 September 2024, leaving significant damage and distress. The earthquake affected at least 30 villages across 8 sub-districts in Bandung District, impacting a total population of 21,696 people from 5,409 families, with 1,263 homes reportedly damaged. In Garut District, approximately 209 residents in 11 villages across 3 sub-districts were affected, with 204 homes reportedly damaged, according to the West Java BNPB on 19 September 2024.
Amid the disaster, the spirit of mutual cooperation and concern remains strong. PT Garudafood Putra Putri Jaya Tbk (Garudafood), in partnership with Sekolah Relawan and Daruut Tauhiid (DT) Peduli, swiftly mobilized efforts to alleviate the suffering of earthquake victims by distributing hundreds of cartons of aid, comprising Gery Saluut Malkist biscuits, Chocolatos Wafers, and Garuda Slondok, despite limited access and infrastructure.

The aid was distributed at several disaster locations, such as the LDP Post in Cikembang Village, Cihauk Village, Lapang Sari Hamlet, and Cibeureum Village in Kertasari Sub-District, Bandung District, on Saturday, 21 September 2024.
